BAYELSA ELECTIONS: 30 MISSING INEC STAFF'S STATUS REVEALED

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced on Sunday that 30 of its staff who suddenly went missing following the acts of violence on their polling units during the Saturdays governorship election in Kogi State have been found.   Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC chairman made it clear in a statement in Abuja that the found staff were all safe and sound and completed their election assignments. None of them were harmed in any form or killed. Mr. Rotimi has said that they can now confirm that all the 30 ad-hoc staff engaged for the 2019 Kogi governorship election and posted to Polling Units 002, 006 and 013 at Olamaboro III; and Polling Units 006, 012, 015, 016, 022 at Imani 1 all in Olamaboro Local Government Area of the state have been accounted for. POLICEMAN DRIVING AGAINST TRAFFIC CRUSH TWO TO DEATH

Deji Lambo and Kore Ogidan Some policemen allegedly driving against the traffic, on Monday, crushed two motorcycle passengers to death on the Long Bridge end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State. The motorcyclist was also said to have sustained injuries during the crash involving a white Toyoyta Hilux pickup van with number plate GGE 960 DD and a Bajaj motorcycle with number plate MEK 418 VH. According to eyewitnesses, the policemen in the patrol vehicle took to their heels after the accident occurred around 10.50am, while emergency responders, who rushed to the scene, took the injured victim to hospital. The remains of the deceased were said to have been deposited in the Lagos State Emergency Centre at the old tollgate area. An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “When the accident happened, the policemen ran out of the vehicle and jumped off the bridge and ran away. Tragedy today at ahaba Awo Idemili, IMO as mother stabs her three children to death

A mother today killed her 3 children in Awo Idemili,Imo State. According to her mother in-law, the woman in question told her husband Emeka Ajoihe to go for a vigil while she stays at home with the children and immediately the husband left for the vigil  she locked the door. The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won Ogbia Local Government Area in the Bayelsa State governorship election held Saturday. The local government includes Otuoke, the hometown of former Nigerian leader, Goodluck Jonathan. In Ogbia, APC scored 58,016 votes to defeat the state’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 13,763 votes. The results were announced by the collation officer for the LGA Sunday afternoon. The collation exercise was nearly disrupted on Sunday morning by the chairman of the local government, Ebinyo Turner, a PDP leader, who accused INEC of colluding with APC to record fake results. He was later arrested by soldiers. Ogbia LGA has 13 wards and all were claimed by the APC. A former presidential candidate and journalist is being held by Nigeria's security forces despite being twice granted bail, his lawyer told CNN. Omoyele Sowore, is an investigative journalist and founder of the New York-based news site Sahara Reporters, who was arrested in August by the country's intelligence agency, the Department of State Services (DSS). He is charged with treason felony for organizing a Revolution Now protest, which the government said was an attempt to disrupt peace in the nation. He is also charged with cyberstalking President Muhammadu Buhari and money laundering. Sowore has pleaded not guilty to the charges. One week after meeting his bail conditions, the journalist is still being held, his lawyer Femi Falana said Wednesday.
